Céline Dion’s Recent Health Update Is Leaving Fans Teary-Eyed

Multiple Grammy-winning singer Céline Dion was supposed to kick off a European tour in 2023 — but the superstar's health has forced her to reschedule. “I’ve always been an open book, and I wasn’t ready to say anything before,” Dion revealed in an Instagram video. “But I’m ready now.” Fans were understandably upset and deeply concerned for the singer’s health.

An emotional revelation

“I’ve been dealing with problems with my health for a long time,” Dion said in her video to fans in December 2022. “It’s been really difficult for me to face these challenges.” The French-Canadian star went on to say that she had been working with her “great team of doctors” to help her heal — but that she wouldn’t be well enough to go ahead with a planned tour in 2023.

Postponing the tour

This was clearly not the news that Dion was hoping to deliver to fans, and she struggled to keep her emotions in check during her video. She did manage to tell her loyal followers that her health problems meant that she was going to concentrate on her well-being and reschedule her 2023 European tour. “I have hope that I’m on the road to recovery,” she said. “This is my focus, and I’m doing everything that I can to recuperate.”

The real issue

The singer revealed that she had been dealing with spasms for a long time. “Unfortunately, the spasms affect every aspect of my daily life, sometimes causing difficulties when I walk and not allowing me to use my vocal cords to sing the way I’m used to,” she said. Dion went on to thank her family for their support — but it seems that it is going to be a long road to recovery.

A hard path to healing

“I’m working hard with my support medicine therapist every day to build back my strength and my ability to perform again, but I have to admit it’s been a struggle,” Dion said in the clip. Perhaps part of the reason why the singer had not revealed her condition before was that she had not had a solid diagnosis. But now, at least, she knows what to call her condition.
